Weather and Climate ScientistUpdate: As of June 2025, I have joined the team at Jupiter Intelligence as a Climate Insight specialist.
I am an atmospheric scientist studying weather and climate variability, extreme weather, and climate change. Most of my research has focused on the intersection of weather and climate, and statistical, machine learning, and data-driven modeling approaches. I love a new challenge, and have worked on many topics in weather and climate science, including tropical meteorology and hurricane forecasting, extreme sea ice loss, causal inference modeling, and climate variability and change.
While I came to atmospheric science for the fluid dynamics, I stayed for the data-driven modeling (if only I could go back and tell my younger struggling self that one day numerical methods and programming wouldn't fill me with dread). In my career, I've enjoyed tackling specific problems in weather and climate, as well as developing more general approaches for statistical and AI modeling in the geosciences.
